Witches' Brews Cover

A love letter to the plants, the grandmothers, and the deep remembering. The plants have taught me that for every ailment, there is a healing, just as for every soul, there is a purpose. We are all here for something vital and meaningful. Just like the nettle or the rose or the hawthorn—we each carry our own medicine.

🌿 A Book That Began as a Whisper

There’s a voice that sometimes whispers in the quiet of our hearts, our memories, our bones—soft, but certain. Mine came not from my own mind, but from far older places. It was the voice of my wise women ancestors. Not calling me to write a book, at first, but to listen.
To follow my love of plants.
To let the herbs speak.
To let their stories rise through my hands, my kettle, my kitchen.

And so, Witches’ Brews began—not as a book, but as a whisper. A small idea to share the quiet magic of simple, everyday foods and little rituals. What started as one of my seasonal sacred foods booklets—a short exploration of nourishing broths, simple teas, and succulent sauces—slowly unfurled into something much larger.
The plants kept speaking.
The ancestors kept showing up.
And I kept listening.

Tea & Broth Are Rituals Too

Making teas and broths, sauces and elixirs—these small kitchen rituals connect me to everything that matters.
To the land beneath my feet,
To the plants that are also elders, kin, and teachers,
To the ancestors who knew how to heal with roots and leaves,
To my children, whom I nourish and tend,
And to myself—my own particular way of seeing the world, of remembering, of offering care.

This is the foundation of Witches’ Brews: That kitchen magic isn’t a performance—it’s presence and patience and letting things develop in their own time. That healing is accessible to all and often begins with the simplest things—hot water, a handful of herbs, and a quiet moment of intention.

You Don’t Need a Certificate to Remember

I’m not a certified or practicing herbalist, and in many ways, I think that’s why I was meant to write this book: to illustrate that you don’t need a certificate to enter into a relationship with the plants. You don’t need to “master” anything to begin listening. I share what I learned, and then open the door to find your own path with the plants.

You can meet them as kin, as guides, as old friends. They have layers, just like we do. They can support us physically, yes—but also emotionally, spiritually, energetically. Their medicine is never just one thing. Witches’ Brews is an invitation to let them in.

The plants have taught me that for every ailment, there is a healing, just as for every soul, there is a purpose. We are all here for something vital and meaningful. Just like the nettle or the rose or the hawthorn—we each carry our own medicine.

This book is about remembering that. It’s not a textbook or a how-to. Instead, it’s a weaving of ancestral stories, old practices, recipes, and rituals meant to awaken what already lives inside you.

A Book Written for My Children (& you)

I also wrote Witches’ Brews for my children, as part of the legacy I will one day leave them, so they’ll know what the women in our line knew. I wrote it for the women before me, whose voices were silenced but never extinguished. I also wrote it for you—as a gentle nudge, a soft awakening from a friend who sees your beauty and gifts, and wants you to explore them further. It’s for everyone who has ever felt the tug of the Old Ways and didn’t know where to begin.
It begins here.
With a cup of tea.
A bit of root.
A remembering.
